Backpack Buddies Program

Thank you for helping to make a difference in the fight against childhood hunger! Backpack buddies attacks the issue of weekend hunger for Lowcountry children. On Friday afternoon, a child is sent home with a backpack filled with nutritous snacks and returns on Monday ready to learn. Please join our year long campaign in honor of the thousands of children who depend on Backpack Buddies. Backpack Buddy Program Volunteers are needed to help at the Low Country Food Bank on the third Saturday of each month during the school year.  We pack bags with weekend food for children who usually get a free lunch at school.  Without this food the children would have little to eat until Monday.   Time:  10 a.m. to noon Where:  Low Country Food Bank, 2864 Azalea Dr, North Charleston 29405 Please note:  Children must be at least 14 years old Dress Code:  no tee tops or open-toed shoes   To be added to the list of volunteers, please contact Cathie Currin, Coordinator, Community Outreach Volunteering Action Group, Social Justice Committee AFSCathie@aol.com or by phone home 843-971-0248 cell 518-232-3436

 Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering him or her to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.  This is an excellent opportunity for the entire family to get involved and make a enormous difference in the life of a child in need.
