Membership Moments

We would like to introduce your newly formed Hospitality Team. In an effort to organize everyone who hosts our community on a regular basis the Greeters, Stewards, and the “heart of house” have come together to organize and improve the material things our congregation enjoy when we gather. Our main objective will remain providing the community the warmest and most welcoming environment possible. We meet quarterly to train and share our experiences and monthly we email a newsletter to aid in communication. We call this newsletter “The Casserole Chronicle” and it’s circulated to the team at the end of every month. We would love to welcome fresh faces, new voices, and unique ideas so please reach out to Priscilla Shumway, Anne Lewis, or Jules to join!

The next time you are in Gage Hall, make sure to visit our updated Information Boards. These boards have been outfitted with new posters featuring detailed descriptions about every small group and volunteer opportunity central to life here at the Unitarian Church in Charleston. Feel free to use these boards to show off all of the ways to connect outside of Sunday and maybe check out a group you haven’t visited yet to make some new connections! We will be updating them regularly to keep pace with our community throughout the year.

In addition to the boards, you’ll notice the Staff Welcome table has made its way back to Gage Hall during the coffee hour. Every Sunday after Service, we invite Members and Visitors to check out our latest program literature, group initiatives, and upcoming special event opportunities. Rotating staff members will be available for questions, to hear your concerns as well as to take your information if you have an issue that requires follow up.

Recently, you may have noticed a table set up in Gage Hall along the left wall during coffee service. We call this “The Lounge.” It features signs that welcome any community member in need of rest to sit and enjoy. We also encourage new visitors to join in hopes they will be hosted by our established community and engage in meaningful connection.

We invite you to join the Lounge any day you require the rest or to meet some new friends and help us host!
